The many different shapes and sizes of windows ask for different ways of decorating them but some things are common to all and those are the ones we’re going to talk about here!

Windows are a need in every house, of course, but the way your house is and the decoration you have will make the difference. If your windows have direct sun all day, you may need the curtains to be thicker or maybe you’ll need to have a second layer of curtains that aren’t see-through and that you can close to avoid getting your house too warm.

Curtains are the best way to ensure you have privacy as well. Nowadays if you live in a flat you can almost reach your neighbors' window through yours so imagine what they see into your house.

If you want to ensure your house looks bigger, having bright colored curtains will help you, as well as placing them as close to the ceiling as possible, causing the illusion of a taller wall.

Some plants will like to be directly exposed to sunlight but be aware that many don’t appreciate it so you may need to watch and make sure that any plants you place by your windows will like the place. Observing them will let you move them soon enough if they are starting to die.

Another way of avoiding the direct sunlight and the curiosity of your neighbors is using an inside blind. You can hang it closer to the window and pull it up or down according to your needs. The ones in the picture are darker, in fabric with a pattern of small holes, but you can find lighter ones as well.

Don’t forget that light colors push away the sunlight, causing the houses to become fresher, and the darker colors absorb the light, making the houses warmer.
